strip poker can be a fun party game when played by visually -- and age -- appropriate gamblers.
it's a problem, however, when one of those playing is a preacher -- it's an even bigger problem when the only other player is a 14-year-old boy.. .

andre, who had served jehovah for years, had the bitter experience of being led astray.
by apostate thinking.
he felt that having a quick look at an apostate web site would not be dangerous.he recalls: initially, i was attracted to the so-called truths that the.
One thing is for certain, JW opposers do take their stuff out of context.
Take for instance that Blondie character which posts here often and manages to always miss the correct point of the Watchtower study articles. I mean, you gotta be a special kind of stupid to 100% miss the point.... every single time! It's quite amazing really.

growing up a jw, we always had family from out of town visit or we would go visit family.
it was fun to get together with my other jw cousins over christmas.
(however, it was hell going back to school in january as the only girl without a new sweater).. as a married jw though it was a different story.
It's a day of pure relaxation and leisure! Since so many of us are free from work, and we're so very clicky and chummy with eachother, we usually end up having a gathering in someone's house and sharing a meal, playing cards and other games, dancing, others play their instruments. Just a very nice and good time, without the pagan implication of the holiday.
Most, most enjoyable a day!

you wanna talk about a section in the office floor becoming as quiet as a vacant building in the middle of nowhere.
so she put her hand on her chin and said in more words or less, "if you fall in love, and get married, do you have to marry a jw?
i couldn't imagine people looking at me poorly because i didn't marry a jw!
I was asked a similar question by co-workers a long time ago, although I was already married. I told them that marriage is very challenging and one must look for someone with the most interests in common. Since we JWs are so different from mainstream society in our beliefs and practices, it would make it for a much happier union if we married another JW. However, people that aren't so serious about the religion do marry outsiders, then of course they start to complaint about their partner or situation as it makes for a tense relationship most often than if one married another JW.
You know, that goes for just about any faith a person is serious about; serious Jewish do not marry outside of their faith, serious catholics should also marry other serious catholics. Nothing new really.
As Dr. Laura says, and she's so very right about this, "love is not enough".

i want to collect a bunch of things that i can use to help my son see that the wbts and being a jw makes no sense.. i have a few in mind already.
they have to be things that might matter to a teenager, so doctrine will probably be out!.
(if you have read my last post you will see why).
I'd like to call it "things I don't enjoy", because you know that nothing is 100% to one's liking anywhere:
Alright.

i cannot speak for other countries, but it has become evident of late that more and more talks are being done by presiding overseers at kh's (especially in the west midlands) and they are making it quite clear that they are expecting 3 from every publisher (per day) who visit the dudley assembly hall, west midlands to contribute towards the upkeep of it.. the quote from the po's who have done this talk have said that "it is expected that each publisher will put 3 into the box on each day".. what do you think of that then?
as the world hits an economic breakdown the jw's seem to maximising their income from struggling families.. dudley assembly hall holds about 600-700 people.
i'm sure people are capable of doing the maths.. so much for voluntary contributions !!
Structures and appliances within need maintenance, repair, remodel, replacement, supplies, etc. We went over this before in another thread some days ago. The contribution is quite modest, really.
Definitely what publishers get out of the assemblies in information, spiritual comforting, Biblical knowledge and comradery with fellow JWs is plenty and priceless. There'll be the ones that will contribute much more than that in order to cover whatever the cost.
Hey, if you think it's so stiff a contribution, how about joining the many religions that not "suggest" but "demand" an amount monthly? How about 10% of a person's earnings? A lady I work with tells me the pastor sees their monthly paychecks and determines how much a person has to give. She's changed churches 5 times since I've known her over money conflicts.
Stop the whining already!

they couldn't and i followed them up and down the street proclaiming they were false teachers and couldn't talk their way out of a paper bag with a knowledgeable apostate.
You sound like quite the deranged nut job, JYD. Any sensible JW, or any educated person for that matter would've left you yelling and kept on going, moving on to more receptive individuals. The days of wasting precious time with people like you are long gone.
Gather your strength, though, for we'll keep on preaching; it's our job until Jehovah says "enough". Hopefully, some day you'll be in a reasonable frame of mind so to establish a real conversation based on actual facts, and not the loud monologue you're used to.
You think it upsets us, JYD, but in reality is quite funny to encounter crazies such as yourself in the field service.
I'm sure you have much time in your hands nowadays that you're not busy preaching as Jesus commanded his followers, so please check out this article I found most helpful: http://www.watchtower.org/e/20000622/article_01.htm
Be well, and calm down for your own health.

ive been thinking about the future of the watchtower organization and the challenges it faces in coming decades.
its difficult to address the issue without allowing personal feelings affect the analysis.
many people seem to think that the society will collapse fairly soon, based mostly on the fact that the person dislikes the leadership or cant understand how others can believe the doctrine.
The Society has evolved tremendously and will continue on keeping up with the times and the needs of its people. Its survival and continuous growth is evidence of Jehovah's approval, direction and protection.
Following Jehovah's word, the Bible, all challenges will be met successfully.

does anyone know if it is common practice for jws to take down or remove photos of dfd or dad family members within their homes?.
if so, is there any basis for this practice within wt literaturetm?
or is it simply a matter of "going beyond the things written" in order to hurt and disrespect the target, and extended family members who have close ties to the target?.
Scully,
To answer your initial question, it is a personal choice; some radicals do, some logicals, more sensibles don't.
There are apostates within my extended family circle and we still keep their pictures, gifts, whatever as before. We even exchange visits, calls, etc., not necessarily as tightly as before because there isn't so much in common anymore, but we still keep in touch and respect each other's choices.
